Clouds, Coffee, and Chocolate

This morning we did the jeep/boat/jeep from La Fortuna to Monte Verde. No jeeps were involved in the journey, but it was fast.

Apparently the lake was too wavy for comfort for those in the know, but as an oblivious land lubber I thought it was a nice float.

The roads were narrow and twisty. The scenery was lush and green. As we drove up into the mountains a cold breeze necessitated closing the windows. After a short time we reached Santa Elena.

We checked in at the hostel which is cute, comfortable, and quiet but social, and wandered around town for a bit before heading out to a coffee/chocolate/sugar tour.

I am too tired to say much beyond words of general appreciation for Santa Elena. It is very touristy but in a less relentless way than La Fortuna. Also the cool breezes are a nice change of pace.

Tomorrow we wake early to visit the cloud forest. For some reason early rising is becoming a bit of a habit.
