Mountains and canals

Fist of all we have now reached the first day of the second week of our trip. We have quite the routine down and are at the point where packing is extremely efficient. This is good since we are moving around every couple of days. We also had the last long train trip for a while.

I was very happy not to be driving in Austria. My palms were sweating a bit just looking at the high bridges and curvy roads that folks had to navigate.

We arrived a bit late to Venice.

We got settled in, ate, wandered around, visited the Doge's Palace, wandered around, and ate again.

The thing is, Venice is just ridiculously beautiful. I have something on the order of a bazillion pictures and most are of something outrageously beautiful. I even got a few shots from inside the Bridge of Sighs where prisoners where taken from the Doge's Palace to the prisons on the other side.

Our room is very pretty and has a great view of a busy square. The square is still bustling.

And of course we ate gelato. When in Italy...

Here are a few more pictures just because.

Tomorrow it is supposed to rain again, but the forecast said it was supposed to rain today and it ended up being perfectly lovely. So fingers crossed, but either way we are planning another full day of adventures.
