Rome is busy is such a different way than Venice. In Venice you can wander aimlessly and will eventually find your way to something familiar. Islands and all. In Rome there are millions of people just doing their thing, all at once and very fast. Fortunately our apartment is near the heart of Ancient Rome, so as long as you know how to get to the Coliseum you are in good shape.
After a a quick bit to eat in the park, we decided to wander down to see the Coliseum. We even opted for the audio guide. Since we were there around 5 it was not terribly crowded.
It was nice to be able to step into the shade periodically. We ended the our by hanging out for a while on some pillars and listening to all the supplemental information on the guide.
We then headed back to our charming apartment on a charming street. We also did not charming laundry. I had to do some internet research to figure out how to use the machine. European laundry symbols are mysterious indeed.
Tomorrow we are going to tour the sites of Ancient Rome and other assorted activities. For tonight we are, for the first time, sleeping in different rooms. I told Ellie that since I have my own room I feel like I need to do grownup things like vote or pay taxes. She does an excellent job tolerating my humor.
