My feetzies in my shoezies

We made it to Florence. It was a short train ride from Rome, though the train was running a bit late. Pretty much every train in Italy is a bit late, which is just fine. It gives one a nice margin of error.

We are staying with the nuns this time. It is sort of a B&B, just with more crosses. They are very nice and it is a quiet neighborhood. Fun view of the rooftops from our window.

Our first order of business was to get some gelato. I got melon and it was crazy melon flavored. We then had lunch. Ellie decided the order of these things. We fund a cute vegetarian place for lunch. We ended up swapping dishes since Ellie did not love her pesto gnocchi and loved my asparagus with basmati rice. I likes them both so it worked out well.

We then ventured to the Ponte Vecchio and did some window shopping and picture taking.

I did a little haggling for a new business card holder. Ellie was a bit too shy to haggle, but is willing to try it out tomorrow in the marketplace.

We next headed over to the Uffizi Gallery. It was a bit in the late side which meant that things were not as monstrously crowded as they were earlier. I got some bad pictures of some great art.

A couple pictures just cracked my up. After the first dozen rooms of so full of Virgin Mary with baby Jesus pictures, suddenly one happens upon this:

This pictures does not do justice to the weird stuff coming out of the moster's nose, but I am sure you get the idea. I also love the completely impossible instruments.

Now for some decent pictures of great architecture which I took as we we wandering around earlier in the day.

After getting a bit lost and then shooed out of the building for closing time, we grabbed our evening meal. Then we rounded it off with a custom Magnum bar.

Finally we walked back to the place of nuns.

Tomorrow we plan to visit David and see some other sights with a side of haggling.
